Custodial history

The School of Community Studies facilitates a program where students and graduates are dedicated to making a difference in the community and working with individuals to improve their quality of life.
In 1969, Community Studies programs began in the Health and Welfare Division. Those programs included Childcare Worker, Social Service Worker and Radiology Technician to name a few. In 1975, these kinds of courses migrated to the Social Sciences and Humanities Division. Programs included Early Childhood Education, Library Technician and Recreation Leadership. In 1983, the Human Services Division had programs such as Behavioral Science, Childcare Worker as well as Mental Retardation Counsellor. In 1990, the School of Health and Human Services was born to provide programs such as Child and Youth Worker, Developmental Service Worker, Social Worker, and Early Childhood Education. The name changed again in 2005 to Human and Community Service.
